MPE INITIATIVES

MPE was created to bring sound energy policy and practices to the San Antonio region. Its broad range of initiatives support this goal.

First and foremost, MPE assists its partners with the energy reduction requirement of Senate Bill 5. This entails ongoing communication, education and technical assistance. Energy policies have been drafted for both Bexar County and the City of San Antonio. Benefits of reduced energy consumption include lower energy bills, better air quality, and a reduction in global warming.

Secondly, MPE has developed San Antonio’s first residential green building program Build San Antonio Green that will provide specific guidelines for architects and builders to construct healthy environmentally friendly buildings. A related effort will make green buildings more affordable through energy efficient mortgages.

MPE’s outreach efforts consist of presentations, informational booths at conferences and festivals, a newsletter, website, and an energy conference. SAN ANTONIO ENERGY LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE will will include a Poster Contest and a Student Awards ceremony.
